First off, let me talk about the differences between collecting comic books today compared to, say, 15 years ago. I live in a smaller city, with a population of 220,000 people. When I was a kid, I had to take any nickels, dimes, quarters, and dollar bills I was lucky enough to possess and head over to the nearest pharmacy or variety store to buy a couple of books that caught my eye, a flashy cover more important than continuity, back then. I of course got older and discovered the wonders of Public Transit, and I would make a monthly run downtown to a magazine store to buy the titles I was now steadily collecting. Needless to say, if a book I was into was sold out, then I was hard pressed to find a copy elsewhere, and had to go without for a month most often. I then got my own car, and was able to hit the local comic book shops with whatever cash I wasn’t spending on gas and girls. At any given time, there were no more than 3 comic book stores open in my city, let alone thriving. So there isn’t as much selection in my city where comic specialty stores were concerned, and there’s never been a local comic convention. Filling in holes in my runs and picking up back issues was tough.

And now... well, now there’s eBay, amongst other online resources. I’ve been a member of eBay since 1999 and currently have a Feedback score of 212, with a sparkling 100% approval rating. Ahem. lol Most of those purchases are comic related, and eBay remains a valuable resource for me as a hard-core comic book collector. There hasn’t been anything that I haven’t been able to find on eBay at one time or another. Quite simply, I almost don’t remember life before eBay where being a collector is concerned.

For the uninitiated... and God help you... here's some links to live Marvel auctions currently running on eBay. I’ve tried to make sure that they were categorized to show off a wide range of Marvel books and the kind of deals I myself try to find when I get the eBay bug. Hopefully, this will aid some new eBay shoppers... and even some of you hardened vets... to experience the thrill of the hunt, and bliss of victory, and the high I get when I receive a package in the mail. lol Kid on Christmas Morn, I tell yah. Onward to e-commerce!
